As I was drinking my morning coffee I was thinking about how amazing this music scene Ireland is right now. Over the past few months we have showcased some amazing Irish talent and there’s definitely much more to come.
Adding to this roster of incredible Irish talent I’m excited to share with you Late Night Pharmacy and their brand new single ‘Is It Because’. I personally believe that this song summarises everything that makes the rock scene in Ireland so undefeated right now. Late Night Pharmacy brings an exhilarating swagger and a compelling lurch that pulls their audience in and makes them gripped to hear more.
Speaking ahead of their upcoming release, the band explained: “Unlike most of the songs in the band’s back catalogue, ‘Is It Because’ is a very personal song, with lyrics describing an unrequited romantic attraction in blunt, unsentimental language.”
‘Is It Because’ is without a doubt an alt rock classic and it came as no surprise to me that their influences span through the ranges of Interpol, Death Cab for Cutie, Radiohead, and Smashing Pumpkins. There is definitely something for everyone in this record.
Take my word for it, Late Night Pharmacy is going to be huge. They have been getting praise throughout the tastemaker landscape (hotpress, undergroundnproud, babylon radio, moshville) it’s clear that Late Night Pharmacy’s reputation is on the rise and they are a band on the cusp of something special.
