British author Samantha Phillips will attend the Cannes Film Festival this year as discussions around a potential screen adaptation of her bestselling novel Blonde Ambition gain renewed momentum.
The novel, first published in the 1990s, has sold more than three million copies worldwide and has been translated into ten languages. It remains widely known for its portrayal of ambition and power within London’s financial sector.

An official audiobook edition, narrated by Teddy, is scheduled for release in summer 2026.

Background to the book and author
Phillips worked in the Lloyd’s of London insurance market before becoming an author. Her experience in the sector informed the setting and themes of Blonde Ambition.
The book draws on life inside a male-dominated financial environment in London during the 1980s and 1990s.
Career beyond publishing
Following the success of the novel, Phillips moved into other sectors, including hospitality. She founded Bedouin Camp in Kenya, a luxury safari business that later received international recognition.
She now lives between London and the South of France.
