Albert Lee LP 700Like a fine wine or Natalie Imbruglia’s smile, some things just get better with age. Albert Lee is just such an artist.

It’s hard to overstate the influence of this man – one of the foremost genre guitarists in the world – for his influence over those that have followed in the country music world. His speedy finger style has always marked him out, and the performances on this album are no different.

And with decent material to work with on this LP, Albert Lee is allowed to shine once more. With songwriters working on the project including Jim Lauderdale, Rodney Crowell, Gerry Goffin and Glen Campbell (a legend in his own right) the foundation for an excellent release were there from the start. Add to that a really good selection of cover songs added to the mix, and it all makes for an enjoyable country lilted album.

The energy is high throughout, with even the ballads given a shot in the arm in terms of their raw performance, making for an excellent listen.
